Rocket Balloons are a product of Cold Spring Direct. If you are reading this story, chances are you have seen our TV ad or you have seen other kids playing with Rocket Balloons and came to our web site to learn more. Thank you for visiting and we hope that you and your children get as much enjoyment out of Rocket Balloons as they have brought to our family.

Cold Spring Direct was founded by a father who wanted to find a toy that would help get his children off the couch and outside running around. He wanted a toy that his girls, ages 6 & 4, could play with to use their imaginations, muscles, and energy. While traveling for business as a product development consultant, he would often looked for such a toy at the end of the business day. Unfortunately, he usually found toys that were automated. There were many toys full of electronics that did the playing for the child.

Then one day while traveling in the Far East, he was introduced to Rocket Balloons. At first he was not interested in "this bag of balloons & pump", but once he pumped one up and let it fly, he knew instantly that his kids would love the way they whined and danced in the sky. Sure enough, his kids loved them. They played for hours with the balloons, letting them fly, chasing after them, racing them, seeing whose would fly higher, and all sort of other crazy uses he had never even thought of.

Something else happen too --- the sound of the flying balloons and his kids laughter attracted kids from all over the neighborhood. Soon his backyard was full of kids playing with Rocket Balloons. Even parents started drifting into the yard asking where he got the Rocket Balloons and many started playing with the balloons themselves. Rocket Balloons were a hit! He thought "maybe there is an opportunity to sell this great toy in the US", but most retailers that saw the balloons were not interested. They had no "shelf appeal". He had a great toy that both kids and parents loved, but it had poor retail appeal.

If he was going to help other kids in America get off the couch and outside running around, he needed a way to show people Rocket Balloons in action. Once he understood the problem the solution was easy: use television. He created Cold Spring Direct for the sole purpose of bringing attention to this great toy using direct response TV advertising.
